Technical Specifications
The sheet fed press works by ink jetting specially formulated clear UV polymer directly on to the printed sheets which can be either fully cured to achieve a super high gloss spot UV, or part cured which allows the polymer to accept foil. Unbelievably this can run at speeds of up to 1,200 sheets per hour.
The Scodix machine can handle various materials in sheet format ranging from A3 up to a maximum size of 545x788mm and up to 700 micron in thickness, although we have successfully produced foil on to 800 micron polypropylene! The maximum image area is B2. This UV cured process allows the machine to print a wide range of substrates including paper, board, laminates and even plastics such as polypropylene and clear PET amongst others.
Please contact our team before supplying any pre-printed sheets or artwork for Scodix print enhancements because we will need to discuss specifications. In order for our 4 CCD camera registration system to work the machine must detect the Scodix registration marks in each corner of the sheets therefore these will need to be printed beforehand. Artwork requirements for these processes are the same as traditional spot UV or foil blocking and simply need to be setup as a spot colour called ‘Scodix’ within the reprographic files, please call or email for assistance.
